Queen Charlotte Track Guided Walks
If your ideal holiday is one that includes luxury and indulgence but also challenges and pushes your expectations and limits, this is the packages for you. Enjoy a four or five day guided walk on the spectacular Queen Charlotte Track, staying in luxury boutique lodges and enjoying excellent 3 course evening meals.
The track is 71km/40 miles long which can be walked over four days (the five day walk includes a rest day at at Lochmara Lodge). Our guides are experts on the history, flora and fauna and will help you make the most of your experience on the track. All the accommodation provided along the track are boutique quality lodges with private rooms and attached en suite bathrooms. Continental breakfast's, packed lunches and 3 course gourmet meals are included whilst on the track. Each lodge has a range of local Marlborough wine and beer available for purchase.
Day 1 - Ship Cove to No Road Inn
The first day starts with a boat cruise out to the predator free island Motuara where you may see many rare New Zealand birds including the saddleback which is now extinct on the mainland. The quick boat trip over to Ship Cove is where the beginning of the track starts. You will have time to learn about the historical and natural aspects of this area as it is where Captain Cook spent over 100 days during his voyages to New Zealand. The first days walk is 14km long and takes approximately five hours, this evening will be spent at No Road Inn which is located in Endeavor Inlet.
Day 2 - No Road Inn to Mahana Lodge
The second day is the shortest leg of the track, you will be walking 11kms around Endeavour Inlet to Mahana Lodge. This part of the walk you will discover the fascinating mining history of this area and take time to listen out for the calls of the native birdlife which is abundance in this section.
Day 3 - Mahana Lodge to Lochmara Lodge Art and Wildlife Centre
The most challenging section of the walk yet extremely well rewarding. This leg of the track takes you along the ridge line which gives you spectacular views for the majority of the day. This accommodation is at Lochmara Lodge Art and Wildlife Centre overlooking Lochamara Bay in the Queen Charlotte Sound.
Day 4 - Lochmara Lodge to Anakiwa
The last day is 20km long and will take you to the end of the track at Anakiwa where you will return back to Picton by water taxi. A mixture of established native beech trees and pockets of lush vegetation comprises the day with some of the most spectacular view points on the whole track.
Five Day Guided Walk - Add an extra night at Lochmara Lodge making the 4th day a rest day.
This package also includes two nights bed and breakfast accommodation at Fernview Cottage in Picton before and after your walk. Fernview Cottage will provide transport to and from the water taxi and a packed lunch for the first days walk.
